22 of us drove to Thurne on the Norfolk Broads for the annual camp on 26 July 2007. Judy and Robin stayed in a B+B, and the rest of us camped.
The campsite was a square field, and we had half of it. We arrived in very strong wind, which made pitching tents difficult, and getting the gazebo to stay up impossible. It rained as well, so by unanimous decision we retreated to the village pub for a meal. Afterwards the traditional bedtime stories were told in Colin's palatial tent.
Next day things improved, and we got the two gazebos up with the kitchen set out under them. The evening barbeques went well for the next 3 nights, providing a fire to sit round afterwards. Simon's stories were as always appreciated by the children.
We walked to Potter Higham for lunch on Friday, and on Saturday everyone went to the beach except for Judy, Robin and me. We explored the area a bit, then went to see some gardens, but they were closed on Saturdays. So we ended up going for a long walk on the beach - after everyone else had gone back to the camp!
Kevin left on Sunday morning, and the rest of us went on a two hour boat trip from Potter Higham to Thurne and back. Very pleasant. Colin left after lunch, and the rest of went to see Debbie and Phil's house.
Packing up on Monday morning took ages. Simon Vicky Nina and I finally left just after 12, getting back to Alpine at 4:30.
